Yes, that is true, but at the moment BVB are just pretending better. Now, if Bayer, were to retain this one point lead until the final day and then blow it at home to Mainz in May, they would probably regain that crown. As well as the prestigious WWEUSBC...which I guess would not make them Pretenders anymore? I dunno, can you win the hardest thing to achieve in football (the WWEUSBC-)and still be considered Pretenders? It would be like calling France the Pretenders for winning the World Cup.
You also have to realize as a pundit, it is important to have as many knee jerk reactions per week as possible. For example, it was only a couple of months ago that Arsenal and Arteta were the greatest team with the greatest manager in the universe, just after Everton and Ancelotti were the greatest, which was right after Leeds and that guy on the spectrum were the greatest team and manager. Unlike matter, Pretenders can be created and destroyed, hourly sometimes, if not quicker.
