Potentially a lot of goals for my strikers this round, so it's a tough
picking process. We have Leipzig against Basaksehir, Krasnodar against
Rennes, Barcelona against Ferencevaros, Juve against Kiev, Molde
against Dundalk, Sociadad against Rijeka. So many decisions.

    For now:
    OUT Skov, Tankovic, Elyounoussi
    IN Eikrem, Braithwaite, Berg

It's matchday five. Teams are already qualified, players are being rested left and right.
Now's come the time for UtN managers to show their mettle! Do you trust your second stringers?
Do you even know how they are?

Shakhtar's win over Real makes the situation in Group B very interesting. It has actually given Inter a lifeline, and now I think they have a path to qualification that depends only on themselves.

And despite leading the group, Gladbach are probably in the worst position because they now need a point away in
Madrid (except if Shakhtar hold Inter to a draw in Milan). But at least they're guaranteed at least Europa League.
Just as last year, Salzburg will have their final at home on the last matchday. Atl|-tico will be kicking themselves
to not have sealed the deal against Bayern B/C in the first half. One kind of already knew what would happen once
M|+ller came on, and for once I'm fine with it.
Ajax vs Atalanta is another tasty final for a place in the round of 16.

The other interesting scenario here is if Real takes a convincing lead over Gladbach, and Inter and Shakhtar are still tied. A draw would be of no use to either of them (assuming they don't care about qualification to the Europa League), so both teams would be forced to attack as if there is no tomorrow in the dying moments.

It is indeed quite absurd - if Shakhtar win against Inter and Gladbach don't win against Real, the Ukrainians win the group despite
having lost against the Pot 4 team 0-10 on aggregate.

On the other hand, if Shakhtar lose and Real get a point against Gladbach they will crash out of the competition altogether despite
having beaten Real Madrid twice. A feat they would share with 2018-19 CSKA Moscow.

FW: Abraham, Sterling, Rashford, Kane, Nketiah

Dele no longer captain, obviously. Cap'n 'Arry by default.
Apart from that, I have to wait and see for the actual line-ups.

    DF: Stones, Trippier, Tavernier
    MF: Hudson-Odoi, Foden, Barnes, Alli
FW: Abraham, Sterling, Rashford, Kane (c), Nketiah

    Stones out, Chilwell in

    DF: Trippier, Chilwell, Tavernier
    MF: Hudson-Odoi, Foden, Barnes, Alli
FW: Abraham, Sterling, Rashford, Kane (c), Nketiah

Cap'n 'Arry won't play. Kane and Abraham (doesn't start) out.
No Chilwell, so he's out as well, and there's no Sancho either.

Let's put Europa League players in instead.
Goldson, Vardy and Willock for the moment.

    Armband to Rashford

    DF: Trippier, Goldson, Tavernier
    MF: Hudson-Odoi, Foden, Barnes, Alli
FW: Sterling, Rashford (c), Vardy, Willock, Nketiah

Rashford! But it was yet again a heavily deflected shot. Crooked UEFA will make this a Danilo Pereira own goal,
    don't you just know it.

Late goal by Captain Neymar propels the Jogo to first place. Race to avoid the wooden spoon gets interesting!
Standings after the Wednesday matches (as usual, please correct any mistakes): Jogo 5 (Neymar 2(x2), Marquinhos)
Armata 4 (Immobile (x2), Darmian, Chiesa)
    Babes 4 (Braithwaite(x2), Scholz, Berg)
Tugas 4 (Cristiano Ronaldo (x2), Joao Felix, Guerreiro)
    Waffles/Windmills 4 (Lukaku 2 (x2))
    Midgets 3 (Morata (x2), Olmo)
    Bungs 2 (Rashford (x2))
    Watch 2 (M|+ller (x2))
    Everyone else on zero.
That's 8 successful captain picks, with Bailey and Julis still to go. Only Peaceniks, Defaults and Wonderland captains with blanks

I didn't realize no one (Ixion?) has a Gauls team.

Giroud, as captain, would lead this match day all by himself with 4x2 goals.

It's usually ixion or MH who pick the Frenchies. They would have been a very strong contender throughout the competition, not just this Match Day (even though Mbappe is still on zero goals?)

Well, some were rested. But on the whole, just a couple of years ago the Defaults could boast a fearsome front line of Messi-Aguero-Dybala-Higuain-Icardi. Through injuries, natural decline and bad form, none of these players was much of a factor this year. And there haven't been any replacements that have come close to that level (Lautaro Martinez is the closest one).

A single winner is guaranteed to gain at least 10 points on number

A critical time to have no Haaland, no Zlatan, no Dundalk.
