    On a serious note, I am puzzled by that [R] thingy. WTF does it stand for and who came up with it?
    It stands for "Result" and has been used as a way of warning others that if they don't want the result of the match spoiling then they shouldn't open the thread.
    It was arguably relevant in the days when the North American contingent in particular would have to wait for games to be re-broadcast on tape delay (or in some extreme cases by waiting for actual video tapes to be sent across from friends and family in Europe) and didn't want the result spoiling.
    I'm not entirely sure how relevant it remains in today's World of 24/7 sports channels and football matches being watched on streaming services direct to your laptop or even mobile phone, but it seems we've hung on to [R] in the subject headers out of tradition if nothing else.
