Canada more or less comfortable with the 1-0 HT lead, until the last 5 mins or so, then they looked nervous.

Was hoping for Mexico or USA to drop points, but not happening

Canada got the job done, fine goal by David to make it 2-0. Two very
good saves by Borjan. We did not play very well, and could easily have
lost this. Only our second victory ever in Honduras, apparently. The
    last one was in 1985.

    USA 1-0 SLV

JAM 1-2 MEX (blown chance for the Reggae Boyz -- they were 1-0 up with 20 to go and gave up 2 in 10 minutes)

    HON 0-2 CAN

    CRC 1-0 PAN

9 of 14 rounds now played

CAN 19 points +10 GD undefeated (4 draws, but they ARE undefeated)
    USA 18 points +9 GD
    MEX 17 points +5 GD
PAN 14 points +1 GD (costly loss, even if it's on the road)
CRC 12 points Even GD (big win)
    JAM 7 points -5 GD
    SLV 6 points -7 GD
    HON 3 points -12 GD

    Sunday

CAN-USA 12:05 Pacific (announced half-capacity of 12,000 due to COVID in Hamilton)

Canada has five points off the USA and Mexico. A home win would put them in pole position to clinch either on Wednesday or soon after, and might well be the final nail in winning the group.

    MEX-CRC 3:00 Pacific

They'll know what they have to do, but it probably means MEX must get 3 points and help put CRC out of any real contention.

    PAN-JAM 3:05 Pacific

With one ear on the Mexican match, Panama has work to do and a lot of it. It has to start here by eliminating the Reggae Boyz.

    HON-SLV 4:00 Pacific

Two teams just paying out the string at this point, frankly. SLV is 8 points down from the playoff and 11 from auto qualify with only 15 maximum points to get.

And HON is three worse than that.

Blame Jamaica for Mexico not dropping points. 70 minutes in front and they fell apart.

USA... Well, the scoreboard says they won...

That can happen when you are down to 10 men for a long period, and
playing against technically more accomplished opposition.

USA... Well, the scoreboard says they won...

Fairly comfortable for the US now, I would think. They have lots of
depth to ride out the vagaries of covid football.

I had not realized that the draw had been made for the intercontinental playoffs already. On the face of it, the 4th place CONCACAF team will be reasonably confident, having been drawn against the OFC winner (likely
to be New Zealand, I guess, but the matches have not even begun. And ALL
will be played in Qatar in march). However with the playoffs now being
single matches, also in Qatar, but in June, anything can happen.
Normally I would back any of Uruguay, Colombia, Peru or Chile in a match
vs. the UAE (most likely opponent), but UAE should have a local
advantage in terms of climate and fans, no ?
