    From Binder Dundat@24:150/2 to rec.sport.soccer on Sat Dec 11 12:36:01 2021
It is a big weekend for Football in N America, two big cups, MLS Super Cup and the Grey Cup, the oldest cup in world football.
I remeber when the MLS started, sometime after the 94 USA WC and I thought it would be good for "Soccer" in N America, but not only were they late in executing, it almost seems that the Soccer is less popular now then it was in the late 90s. Maybe it is all down to the Republicans - I never liked them, not since they got that Abe Lincoln guy- they hate the Soccer.
Anyhow, Portlandia vs New York City about to kick off, so Lumberjacks vs City Slickers.

I think I want the Lumberjacks to win, even though, no real lumberjacks would have a homefield made of plastic grass ( Plastic grass is better now, they put rubber sand on it.)
City Slickers with a 40th minute goal, lead 1-0 at the half, from a set play and though it sounds cliched, the marking was really bad.
In case you did not know, New York City FC is part of that evil Arab Man City FC thing, which I would say is much more evil that any Vodka mixer drink empire owning soccer clubs. At least they make something imporatnt! No one wants to drink vodka straight, may as well drink household cleaners.

Until this Summer IrCOd somehow managed to avoid vodka. Bought a bottle as a nod to Russia in the Euros, tried it straight during one of the Russia games as I read this is how Russians drink their vodka. It literally tasted like paint stripper, I canrCOt comprehend how anybody could enjoy drinking it. I wonrCOt be going anywhere near it unless mixed with cola or possibly orange juice. At least when Scotland played in the Euros they gave me an excuse to sample the Talisker single malt IrCOd been keeping for a special occasion!

Back, oh so many years ago when this Covid pandemic started, a few of the local micro distilleries turned to making hand sanitizer instead of vodka and gin. There was no difference in taste between hand sanitizer and vodka. I never understood Vodka and cola, it just tastes weird/bad, vodka does mix well with fruit juices and red bull. I have been to high end Vodka Bars, where they served vodka in test tube like glasses, not as bad as the normal swill, but still kinda tasted like burning, apparently freezing it makes some of the burning taste go away.

Depends on where... every vodka I ever got outside Russia was no good.
The ones I got in Russia (Pyat Ozer, Standard Platinum) especially
before 2010 were very good indeed.

Colleague said: you can drink as much as you want, as long as you
    don't try to _move_ :-)
