• Thriling UCL match day 6 finale R

    From Binder Dundat@24:150/2 to rec.sport.soccer on Tue Dec 7 05:51:57 2021
You will notice, I put an R in the title, cus I dont want any of you little snowflakes to read this post and accidentally see a score from the thrilling matches of this final matchday group gameday and just ruin your whole UCL final matchday group gameday experience.
After a year and a half of fighting so hard to get here, 16 of Europas 32 best teams will be eliminated-that is like half of Europes best teams! wow! Well Ok, not eliminated, I think 8 go to the Europa liga and then the other 8 go to some other Europa conference underground liga in Russia or Kazakstan or North Korea or where ever these underground euro ligas take place.
But yeah, the thrilling finale of these 32 greatest Europa teams is on today and tomorrow for nail biting edge of your seat football mayhem. This is as thrilling as the new Puppy seeing snow for the first time on the weekend (actually the 14 year old was more excited than the pup, have not seen her run around like that for years). The thrilling group A looks like, well lets pass on group A. Group B , yeah! Uhmm OK second place is exciting, yeah so Atletico vs Porto for 2nd place, thrilling, even if they are like 20 points behind Liverpool. Group C was always gonna be close... uhhm... Group D, oh OK we know who qualified there, but 1st place means something...right? Group E, thrilling! Can Bayern remain undefeated and score 50 goals??????
Honestly, the only semi-interesting games of this whole match day will be in Group G and one will be if Casino Salzburg can get a draw with Sevilla. Uhmm lets give you some pre game hype...uhmmmmm...if you have never visited Salzburg or Sevilla, I would personally recommend both cities, been to both of them, they are nice, see a Flamenco show and visit a castle.

I guess the Thrill is Gone baby, no one in Leipzig even bothered to come out to watch the game. The Hungarian Wunderkind gives Red Bull the 1-0, probably the only reason to watch is Szoboysloy, he just set up Silva, for what could have been the second.

The Real Messi 1 - 0 English Messi HT
No denying his sexy calves, but has the English Messi scored yet since joining Man City?

You are a man of tradition. I like it. So genteel.
For once I would be OK with Liverpool, losing if it contributes to shithouse extraordinaire Atletico being eliminated. A total shit-stain of a football team managed by an illiterate thug. Plus, a kinda like Milan these days.
Another big one today is Real-Inter. Both have qualified but securing top spot could be huge, because you avoid all of LFC, MC, CFC, and BM in the next round.

I guess this year, first place matters. Real leading 1-0, old man Kroos with the goal. Real look more likely to get a second than Inter getting their first.
Elsewhere, that Salah guy scored again, I think he will get a rest at the African Cup.

Red cards fly and Atletico Madrid advances to the R16. Good chance they'll meet one of the English teams there

The only unexcpected result in the tables (sort of) so far, would be Ajax winning the group over Dortmund. Elsewhere, everything went according to plan.
    Ajax for the cup!

I forgot to mention Ajax in the first place teams to avoid. Not only did they finish with a 100% group record, but their GD was +15.

All second place teams must be praying that they draw the winner of the Lille group, or Man Utd.

3/6 if Liverpool is not an option (or did they change that rule?) and
only Real finish first among the Spanish teams, right ?
I guess Sevilla could still win their group, which would make it 3/5 ?

Yes, but I think it's a bit more complicated than that, because the various same-country restrictions also have spillovers on other teams. Or maybe not.

It's the hope that kills ya. Things looked too good following the first three matches, after which
Salzburg's form indeed took a severe dip. The two CL losses were bracketed by two draws
and a loss in the Austrian league. In Salzburg terms, that's crisis.
Yesterday wasn't a pretty match by any standard, but it got the job done in a mature way that
I wouldn't have expected from this bunch of Under-21s. A shame it had to be played behind
closed doors, I would have had tickets.

Adeyemi looks like a proper raw talent.
Raw being the key word here. He was quite abysmal yesterday for long stretches, misplaying the simplest passes - then provides the assist for the winning goal and
with his speed forces a Sevilla player into a second yellow.
Don't get me wrong, Adeyemi is great, but I don't think the hype would be as big if he
wasn't German. Okafor - who, as most expensive Salzburg buy ever, took his sweet
time to properly 'arrive' - is the better player right now (and also two years older).
Where yesterday's win was crucial is that CL Round of 16 should be a good incentive
to postpone the next round of sales until summer.
And the next 'generation' is already waiting in the wings.
    Ciao,
    Werner
