Your pick for Driver of the Day?
Sainz.
Ferrari turning an almost certain no-worse-than-5th result into a risky hopefully-get-back-to-5th result is irrelevant - this is for the driver.
If anything, perhaps he deserves it more for getting the place despite
their decision. I was in the pub with a rando Ferrari fan, and at the
end of the race he asked me whether I thought Sainz or Hamilton deserved
it more, which surprised me. I pulled a funny expression and said
"Sainz, obviously". "Oh, OK, I'll vote for Sainz then" he said as he
pulled out his phone. That's the first time I've had an influence on
the vote.
