• Becoming an F1 world champion

I follow the progress of women in auto racing, and it's frustrating to read so many absurd (PR) statements such as "I want to race in F1" and "I want to be an F1 champion. David Coulthard, to his credit, is a supporter of women's racing. But to read his group's headline about a future female F1 champion ---
Similarly irritating: the apologies and frowns when a woman qualifies 9th and/or finishes 10th in the field.
For heaven's sake, I'd guesstimate that of all male racing drivers at all levels, 95% have never won any race. Why would they? Of all male drivers at all levels, I'd bet that 90% retire without ever getting a podium finish.
Reality does no harm, but fantasy does.
The legitimate regret from women racers is that after they have posed for a thousand cameras, even the best ones cannot secure the sponsorship funding that many bottom-of-the-field men enjoy season after season.
Racing success does not always guarantee sponsorship money.

Why is it frustrating to read what people are striving for?

When asked what she (or he) would like to achieve in racing, what do you
    think they should say?

"Ah, but a [person's] reach should exceed [his or hers] grasp,
    Or what's a heaven for?"
