The Axiom-1 mission was launched yesterday and is due to dock with the International Space Station.
The 4-man crew includes Larry Connor, who 'is also an accomplished
racecar driver, and his wide and varied career includes more than 70
race wins in formula, sports and off-road racing vehicles. He is a
two-time winner of the Baja 1000 and Baja 500 in the Trophy Truck Spec class. In 2015, he completed a perfect season in the SCORE Off-Road
Racing Series, winning all five events and bringing home the
championship, a feat that only has been accomplished three times in the 50-year history of the series. Connor is also a two-time Formula
Atlantic National Champion in 2000 and 2001, and in 2003 he won Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in the LMP2 class.'
The commander, an ex-NASA astronaut, is almost 64 years old, while the
three others are 72 (Connor), 52 & 65, average age 63!
