If I had to speculate, I'd say they're probably seeing what the most extreme... ...something... ...is that they can get away with before
porpoising becomes an issue.
It might be rear ride height... ...it might be spring rates.
One of the factors that's definitely a big change for these cars is that
the tires will be doing a lot less of the springing in the overall
system, so the main springs will probably be softer in order to
compensate. Softer springs will me more vertical movement from downforce
and on a ground effect car, too much movement leads to porpoising.
