Hintz Blossomed in His Sophomore Season

A 23-year-old Finn out of Tampere, Hintz set career-highs in goals with 19, assists with 14, and points with 33 last season while averaging 14:45 of ice time over 60 games.

The 49th-overall 2015 pick also recorded two goals and 11 assists for 13 points in this summer';s Stanley Cup Playoffs, but missed the final two games of the Cup Final due to injury.

The 6-foot-three, 220 pound Hintz is an intelligent and creative offensive force and a threat on the power play; 14 of his 33 regular-season points came on the man advantage. Hintz could celebrate a lot of goals in the next three seasons; his ceiling is high and what he';s shown in his first two seasons with the Stars is just the tip of the iceberg. Prior to making his debut with the Stars in 2018-19, Hintz spent four seasons in the SM-liiga, two with his hometown Ilves Tampere and two with HIFK Helsinki.Stars Positioned For Another Deep Run in 2020-21

Dispatched in six games in the Stanley Cup Final by the Tampa Bay Lightning, Stars'; general manager Jim Nill has done his best to retain his core heading into 2020-21 for another shot at hockey';s top prize.

    Jim Nill's offseason:

    Anton Khudobin 3 x $3.333M

    Mark Pysyk 1 x $750k

    Radek Faksa 5 x $3.25M

    Denis Gurianov 2 x $2.55M

    Rick Bowness named head coach

    Roope Hintz 3 x $3.15M- Matthew DeFranks (@MDeFranks) November 9, 2020

Before re-signing Hintz, Nill re-upped sudden star goaltender Anton Khudobin, centre Radek Faksa, and right-winger Denis Gurianov. He also signed d-man Mark Pysyk to a one-year deal.Related: Radek Faksa Contract Gives Stars Incredible Value

With the Hintz signing, the Stars are pretty much right at the $81.5 million cap ceiling. They';re in win-now mode, no doubt.
