Someone needs to be careful, Dan Ticktum got a 2 year ban for a
    "disturbing and dangerous episode".

It's hard to follow the subsequent brawl in the pits (second video here):

but it's worth sitting through the advertisement to see the initial tackle.

I think I'm starting to agree with that. I hadn't realised he hit the

It shouldn't matter even if he'd hit the correct driver.

But I don't think his ban should be for life. It should be for more than
a year, but not for life.

No. You're absolutely wrong on your facts. For it to be "Attempted
Murder" his INTENT must have been to kill, and there is no reasonable
case to be made that he was trying to kill the other driver.

Would be difficult to get to stick in court but I reckon manslaughter
could be considered. In the UK, that can carry up to 10 years.

Of course, there is the secondary attack which is assault (probably
"with intent") and I think that is 26 months.

I suppose he could try to resume his carrier when he gets out of
    prison...

I was speaking with the missus and she said "life ban for all forms of
    motor racing".

He has apologised and stated he has withdrawn from all future motorsport.

That was for recklessly passing 10 cars behind a safety car to ram into the car of the person who
he was upset with, taking them both out of the race.

The second year of the ban was later suspended.
