• Reasonable explanation of Hamilton penalties.

.. and why the FIA back-pedaled on the penalty points.

(Another video from 'The Race'.) IMO Masi is doing a rubbish job - when a lot of the top drivers
say a penalty (given to a rival) is too harsh then something's wrong. Or maybe I've been spoiled by
the excellent job that Charlie did for so long?

Odd as it may seem to you, I think the penalty Hamilton received for
    this WAS too harsh.

The time penalty OK, the points no.

I liked the way that Ricciardo handled his 5 sec penalty, "OK I'll drive faster".

Ditto. I also liked how the twittersphere (whose junk gets splorted
unto the BBC live page, which we have open whilst we watch the race,
as we watch in foreignish, and sometimes miss some of the details.)
were commenting on the two different reactions. The size of the
blinkers you have to be fitted with such that you consider HAM's
reaction to be perfectly normal and understandable such that every
racer would react the same way - after RIC's transmission has been
heard - is frightening. RIC's reaction, and his follow-through, was
almost enough for me to want RIC for DotD. I'm enjoying HAM's racing,
but drivers like RIC are just as valuable to the sport, I'm looking
forward to him being in a better car - he's nearly up there fighting
    for the top already.
