• Rus / Bot around lap 55 ish

    From Matt Larkin@24:150/2 to rec.autos.sport.f1 on Mon Dec 7 04:14:02 2020
Bottas trailed Russell by about 8.5s after they came out of the pitstops.

    We then cut to adverts.

55 Bottas had brought that down by about 1s and then there was a yellow
flag on lap 55 and VSC with Russell posting a 1:05 and Bottas a 1:06 under
a VSC which was then cleared. After that VSC Bottas had brought the gap
down to 5.5s, so he gained under the VSC (Rus 1:04, Bot 1:01 that lap)

What was that VSC for? It *wasn't* the Aitken crash as that was a few
    laps later.

I've seen a few reports which talk abotu Bottas getting the gap down in
that phase of the race, but that was clearly not down to racing.

It also makes me wonder how the Russell garage weren't prepped for a
a stacking change better, given that they must have gone to a state of
    alert under the VSC.

Found the answer - it was Latifi pulling off triggering a VSC.
