There was a suggestion that it would have to be taken by Wednesday at
the latest. I don't know the reasoning, though.

I'm wondering if they make the decision earlier in the week, will that
allow them to modify the car to suit George better - or is that even
    allowed?

The team will start working on the car on Wednesday. Lewis probably
won't know until Thursday, when his 10-day isolation ends and he gets
tested again. The bulk of the paddock is flying to Abu Dhabi today, so
Lewis, who can fly by private jet, will need permission from Abu Dhabi,
which has a 14-day quarantine for individuals arriving from elsewhere.
The F1 paddock has an exception, but Lewis would need a waiver.

The above is predicated, obviously, on Hamilton driving as is currently planned. Should he be replaced before qualifying substitute Bottas for
pole, and leave the finishing positions unchanged.

This option prices at double the normal entry fee.

I'm assuming that Lewis wouldn't put himself in the car if he didn't feel he could give it his
best. Of course assumptions are just that. I hope that he's fully recovered - not just for my pool
    pick either. ;)

It seems that actually (by his own admission) Hamilton wasn't 100%. Still I can see why he'd not
want Russell to get another race this year...
