• George Russell's race in Bahrain

    From Ar@24:150/2 to rec.autos.sport.f1 on Sun Dec 6 18:57:43 2020
Sorry, from P1 I'm not buying it that George Russell had the team
accidentally put on a mixed set of tyres, when have they ever done that?

So Russell battles back to P2 and within two seconds of taking the lead
with about 10 laps to go, the team call him that he has a convenient
rear puncture on a brand new set.

It looks like Mercedes were just determined to make sure that it doesn't
look like the car is in large part of the teams success.

Anyway, it was a great drive from George, twice spanking Lewis' normal
    team mate Bottas.

ThatrCOs taking conspiracy theories too far. If they wanted to suppress performance, theyrCOd have done it by modding the engine prior to quali.
They just dropped the ball making a completely unnecessary pit stop for precaution sake.
Gutted for Russell, but his worth has just gone up a few -umill based on that drive.

They made sure Russel didn't win because that would cause a nervous
    breakdown by the team player.
Doesn't matter, Russel clearly showed it doesn't matter who drive the
Merc, Merc will win anyway regardless who drive it.

Teams screw up. It happens. And when you've got a short lap, it puts additional pressure on the team to make the calls.

So Russell battles back to P2 and within two seconds of taking the lead
with about 10 laps to go, the team call him that he has a convenient
rear puncture on a brand new set.

You imagine they called him in and they DIDN'T have a puncture?

It looks like Mercedes were just determined to make sure that it doesn't look like the car is in large part of the teams success.

No, actually... ...because no one who actually knows ANYTHING about
racing would draw any conclusion about the car's importance based simply
    on their finish positions.

Anyway, it was a great drive from George, twice spanking Lewis' normal
    team mate Bottas.

Absolutely fantastic drive by Russell. Imagine what he might have done
if he actually fit in the car.

Didn't I ask the very question of what a Williams driver might do in the Mercedes?
