Oh well there's no money for wining this thing right? Right? ;)
If you are right the Hamilton haters will have a field dayEfye
I thought that too but I don't care about haters - what's the saying?
Haters are going to hate
anyway...
I think that Russell has the potential to be close to the same league as
Hamilton (as does Toto who
wanted him in the second Merc seat next year) and have seen how well he
qualifies*. If he can carry
that qualifying skill over to this weekend, start on pole and stay out
front at the start then only
the strategists or fate will be able to beat him IMO. It's not like he's
a rookie, he's completed
almost two years in F1 already.
Bottas has quite often out-qualified Lewis but usually loses out in the
race due to HamiltonrCOs superior race craft. This is where George could score but itrCOs a very big ask. LetrCOs hope he is careful when warming his tyres :).
Heh! I have faith in him, I think he knows this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and will be up
to the task. (He did after all win F3 then F2 titles back-to-back.). Anyway he will have the DAS
system to warm his tyres.
I know Bottas is a good qualifier but so is Russell. He's one of only three drivers to have such a
long unbroken streak beating his team mate at qualifying and is in good company. One of the others
was Senna. OK his team mates this year has been a financier rather than a natural talent but last
year's was almost one of the greats once.
Also Bottas is on a bit of a down after his trouncing in the WDC this year. I'm not sure how he'll
react psychologically to this situation and how it'll affect his performance. The situation could
be taken two ways by him. One is that he's finally team leader (... but that could cause him to be
overconfident) and the other is that Toto's first pick for his seat for 2021 is now in the other
car and that could cause nerves. Either way he's under almost as much pressure as Russell and he
doesn't handle pressure as well as some do.
I'm looking forward to seeing how it pans out. Max might well win (as he'll smell the blood in the
water) and both Merc drivers get the willies and end up lower down the points. <shrug>
Second (unofficial) pick for shits and giggles:

Will Perez get a penalty for a PU replacement? if so substitute Albon in the above.
I'm more excited for this race than any other so far this year even though it'll probably throw up
more questions than answers.
* It's not unknown on recent times for Russell to out qualify Vettel (in
a much slower car). And
Vettel is a 4 x WDC and has finished on the podium recently...
Gotta be worth a punt.
Definitely - you donrCOt win by following the herd.
True that. So far this year in the pool I've had Ricciardo four times, Norris twice, Sainz once and
Albon once in my picks. Sure they were all for third place and it only paid off twice but that made
a difference to my total.
Cheers,
