    Yes, HAM could just have stayed in bed, and most likely the previous
    race too. So close has it been that he really needs to push himself.

    But what will he do instead? Well it's an understated element of his
    and Mercedes success because the car has got better because of
    Hamilton's input. Any of the top cars would be better if they had
    HAM's input.

    And so for the remaining races he will now be focussed on next year's
    car and what works and what doesn't work with the result that he will
    just be in front, again and again.

    GOAT? I'm reluctant to compare drivers of different eras but there's
    no doubt he's up there with whoever else is in the frame, Fangio,
    Senna, Schumacher and cleaner than the latter.

    However it seems to me that he's just going to go on and on for a few
    more years yet and that's going to leave a number of drivers chasing
    shadows, all assuming that Mercedes management don't self-destruct.
