• LH requirements to win WDC

    From Geoff May@24:150/2 to rec.autos.sport.f1 on Wed Oct 28 21:02:18 2020
Been doing some working out and, according to me, (so all errors are
mine and mine alone and you cannot claim them), LH needs the following
    to win the driver's championships:
    A win with fastest lap
A second place with fastest lap

The best VB could do against that is get equal points but LH would win
    on quality of results.

    The alternate for LH is:
    A third place
All the rest of the races with 5th place or better

For the above, VB must win all the last 5 races with fastest lap and
hope that LH does not get at least the above.

    Cheers

Yeah, but HAM has the best car so BOT hasn't a chance.

After today Hamilton leads Bottas by 85 points; after Turkey only 78
points are available. So Hamilton becomes champion in Turkey unless
Bottas outscores him by 8 or more points.

a series of questions for a survey. - Randall Munroe
