Hi everyone,
I have a keen interest in 3D printing but I have no clue where to
start. I am looking for a small basic printer to save up for. I'd
like to be able to print replacement knobs for amateur radios and small curios. There is a HUGE flea market about 10 miles northeast of me and
I was thinking of maybe opening a small stall there (unofficially, of course; if Social Security finds out I start an actual business,
they'll cut me off at my knees with prejudice) or even something like Etsy.
There are a lot of people on Etsy selling, but if you can
do things with a good turnaround and offer something a little
extra (maybe personal creations and not just printing existing
files) then it might do good for you!!!
I've not used a 3d printer in a while - a buddy of mine has
one of the newer styles that prints in resin. It's toxic,
so he has to be careful (gloves, etc.) but the detail is
GREAT!!!
My wife recently bought a laser etcher/cutter and is planning
to make Christmas gifts this year (ornaments and such). I've
played around with it some and have made some board game
upgrades that no one is doing right now, so we are THIS close
to opening an Etsy shop ourselves...
Not trying to talk you into that, but laser and/or CNC is
pretty popular now! I don't know what kind of money he's
bringing in, but a guy at church (that turned us onto this
exact model) has TWO of them in his shop and he's constantly
churning out stuff to sell at local vendor malls and even
takes orders.
We are NOT trying to compete with him, but we have learned
from him and have shared ideas and such with him as well,
so... :-)
... If this were an actual tagline, it would be funny.
