A long front brings rain and thundery showers to northern and eastern
Europe, a risk of torrential thunderstorms in the southeast on
Thursday.
Thursday
Scattered showers for northern Spain today, most often in the northwest
and north Portugal. Fair for other areas with sunshine. Dry and sunny
conditions through the central Mediterranean islands. A few showers
down the spine of Italy with a few in the northeast as well. Fine and
sunny away from showers. More unsettled in the Baltic States with heavy
afternoon showers for many with a risk of local thunderstorms. A
greater risk of torrential rain and thundery in Albania and North
Macedonia. Greece will see a mix of cloud and sun with a risk of heavy
showers in the north. Türkiye will be fair with good spells of
sunshine.
Rain in northern France and notably windy, scattered showers central
and southern areas with good sunny spells. Heavy showers or longer
spells of rain in the Low Countries and staying showery across much of
central and northern Germany too. A few scattered showers in the Alpine
Countries and Czechia, but largely sunny away from showers. Poland,
Hungary, and Slovakia will have morning rain in the east, then often
sunny with scattered showers. Heavy rain and thunder in west Romania
and Bulgaria drifting east through the day.
Denmark has a mix of sunshine and showers. Heavy rain sets in for
southern parts of Norway and Sweden, slowly drifting north to reach
central parts by afternoon. Dry in Finland with sun in the east, a
strong southeasterly wind blowing across most of Scandinavia. The
Baltic States will similarly experience strong southeasterlies with
thundery rain arriving into Lithuania and Latvia through afternoon.
Friday
A mix of cloud and sun for Iberia with a few scattered showers in north
Spain. More fine sunshine for the central Mediterranean. Scattered
showers in northern Italy, mostly sunny central and southern parts with
only an odd drizzly showers. Similarly only odd drizzly showers for the
Balkan States, otherwise fine and sunny. Sunny for Greece and Türkiye,
a few odd afternoon showers in northern Greece.
A notable breeze in northern France through to northern Germany.
Scattered showers here, more frequent and heavy afternoon. Some cloud
in southern France, more sunny in southern Germany. Outbreaks of
showers in Austria and Czechia, risk heavy for a time afternoon. Drier
for Poland and southward to Hungary, some showers arrive from the west
through afternoon. Mild temperatures for much of central Europe, warm
or locally very warm in the southeast. Heavy, thundery showers fairly
widely for Romania and Bulgaria, heavy rain in western Ukraine and
Belarus.
Frequent showers across Denmark and southern parts of Norway and
Sweden. Sun spells and only scattered showers in central parts of these
countries, some rain in north Sweden. This band of rain stretches
across southwest Finland into the Baltic States with a few
showery/sunny spells to follow. East and northern Finland dry, mostly
cloudy but some sunshine in the northeast.
