We recorded the Billy Joel 100th from Madison Square Gardens and watched it tonight.
What a show! He is the consummate performer. Piano player, singer, songwriter,
harmonica player. He had a great band and every song was perfection.

My wife Googled the price patrons would have to pay to see it. The lowest was $386. The
stadium seats 19,500 people. I would love to have just one days take, but I am nowhere
as talented as him, so it's OK.

    So happy we recorded it!

I didn't even hear it was a "live" televised event. :(
Missed it. From some of the short clips I did see, the camera
work to record it was intimate and dynamic. From the "special
guest" lineup, I noticed that Jerry Seinfeld made an
appearance. Did he just tell a few jokes as a stand-up
    commedian?

Not too many performers are close to being as talented as him. My partner and I flew to L.A. a couple years ago just to see him at Dodger Stadium. We were late bloomers so we were in the nosebleeds. Between the Dodger Dogs, the beer, and his show, we were in heaven.

I always respected his ability but never really appreciated it much. I do now. Never
saw him in concert, but thankfully I was able to see him for free on TV.

Saw Joel at a stadium concert in Ottawa in the 80's. The stage was rigged up on one of the broad sides of the arena. My two seats were at the far narrow end, an upper tier to Joel's left. It was not particularly good seating so high and far away. I could barely appreciate the visual entertainment. Joel *did* acknowledge the audiences at the far wings a few times. But following that experience I swore I would never go to another arena concert unless I could be a few feet from the stage. I had a pair of binoculars with me. But I would rather look through the glass of a TV set than a pair of binoculars.

In the 100 monthly shows he has done at MSG, it is normal for celebrities to show up
unannounced. Not sure if Billy knew Jerry would be there, but Jerry's only comment
was to compliment Jerry on the 100 shows, and then he left the stage.

I don't recall the names of previous celebrities that showed up, be they were all top-
    notch.

I recently learned that Pink got her big break by playing drums for Motley Crue. I had no idea! (I knew they had a female drummer for a while, but I didn't know it was Pink)

Wow, neither did I. You learn something new almost every day. ;)
