Remember when this terrorist group's kidnapping of Patty Hearst(the original indolent heiress, long before Paris Hilton) was fictional?

Now several game shows have predicated the correct answer to refer to this as an actual kidnapping?

Last I recall, she faked her kidnapping to get ransom cash for her and her boyfriend.

Now she's acting, again(well, being done for her posthumously) a kidnapping victim by the S.L.A?

I know the SLA exists now -- did it then, or is this a case of a terrorist group inspired to create itself by media coverage of a non-event using a made- up name for a non-existing group?

Yes, as I was in the San Francisco bay area at the time and the local newspaper was owned by the Hearst family. It was front page news for months.

    George,
But wasn't it later found out to be a fictional kidnapping?
Or how did Hearst's papers treat the subsequent reveal?
Like with so many other things..."never believe anything until officially denied". :P

Or never question anything until you suddenly see a concerted version of an event that never quite matches up with what you saw/heard yourself?
