The Houthis in Yemen have claimed responsibility for a rocket attack near Israel's Ben-Gurion Airport. A spokesman for the group said on television that the shelling shows that the airport "is no longer safe" for air traffic.

A rocket attack took place near Ben-Gurion, Israel's main airport, on Sunday. The attack briefly disrupted air traffic and Israeli media reported that several people were injured. According to the airport, it is open for air traffic.

The Houthis claim to have used a "hypersonic" rocket, referring to a type of rocket that is supposed to be difficult to shoot down. They said in a statement that the airport was also the target of the attack.

The Yemeni group, which has ties to Iran, has been carrying out attacks on Israel and international shipping near Yemen for some time. They say they do this to support the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will discuss with his Defense Minister on Sunday afternoon how Israel will respond to the attack, according to news site The Times of Israel. One of the options is an attack on targets in Yemen.

Netanyahu will also have a meeting with his security cabinet in the evening. According to the news site, the meeting will not only discuss the Houthis, but also the expansion of the military operation in Gaza and the situation in Syria.
