Not an Alaskan Sysop, but spend a lot of time North of Saskatoon, so getting closer. lol

My BBS is actually out of Ontario, but don't hold that against me. lol

Alaska and the Yukon are at the top of my family's 'to visit' list.

Oh.. I'm hooked up to this area. Hasn't been much comms or
news from Alaska in a long time.

Has the inflation of things affected you much? if so, how much
    more?

Successful in getting people interested in BBS messaging like
    this?

I suppose Starlink is a popular intenret solution in AK?

Inflation? Everything is more expensive here anyway. LOL. Gas is $5.49/gal right now. There are a couple internet providers here. I use GCI which is a local cable company. Anyway, 2 other people also responded, which is amazing since the last time I ponsted on here NOBODY responded.

Thanks for the response, Charles. Does FBO stand for Fixed Base Operator? As in airplanes? I think I have seen you on the SBBS conference

Since I appear to be the only BBS operating in Alaska, I'd be hard pressed to hold anything against anybody who has a BBS running in Ontario. LOL

If you are gooing to visit Alaska, May or June are the best months. Also, thanks for responding! TTYL

Fuel is anywhere from 1.60 to 1.80 CDN per litre here in
Ontario. Four of those is about a gal. x the exchange rate .72,
    that's about $5 too.

Myself, my home internet is via mobile data. I used to get a
couple of tv stations OTA (VHF) suitable for the evening/world
news and the occassional primetime tv show, but I'm too far to
pick of the nearest digital version.

So.. it's basically radio news since about a month ago. Good
    enuff.

I used to be able to get a whole lot of stations OTA until they all went digital. Now I also get none OTA.

I half-wonder if they didn't force this conversion not only to be able to
sell licenses to part of the band to non-TV services, but also to push
people to pay services like cable and sattelite.

Of course, those last two are by now being replaced with streaming, but
that was not really a thing back when this started.

    Bye, Wilfred.

It is quite possible I didn't get them or maybe I did and just forgot. That's what happens when you get old. Also, I think I was having issues with my board back then.
