• Out of logons?

    Hello All,

I have just setup a new Synchronet BBS and make an initial setup.

I logged on for the first time and was going through the new user questions/setup. Shortly after logging in I saw message something like times up and I was logged off. I never got to the create guest account setup question.

Now when I login and enter my name and it says "Times up.", and logs me out. It doesn't ask for my password. I see this on the sbbs terminal server screen..

    1/18 23:52:44 term 0053 Telnet connection accepted from: 127.0.0.1 port 59396 1/18 23:52:44 term 0053 Telnet Hostname: irondust.home [127.0.0.1] 1/18 23:52:44 term Node 1 socket 53 attached to local interface 127.0.0.1 port 23

    1/18 23:52:48 term Node 1 <Al> logout initiated 1/18 23:52:48 term Node 1 thread terminated (0 node threads remain, 6 clients served)

It says I am out of logons, what does that mean and what do I need to change?

    Any help appreciated. :)

This is a new install from git of SBBS 3.20.

This is a new install from git of SBBS 3.20.

I looked at my account in uedit and my security level was 0, so it set it to 99 and was able to log in briefly before running out of time.

I also created a second regular user account with the same results. The security level gets set to 0 and the password is blank.

I used "jsexec makeguest" to create a guest account. I can log in as guest and browse around the BBS but the sysop and regular user accounts are not usable.

I'm not sure why that is but that is what I discovered so far.

something is screwed up. so just go into scfg in your security levels and change the time per day

Is this user #1? The first user created is normally given sysop access (e.g. security level 99, all flags, etc). How did you create this user account?

How did you create the second regular user account? The normal methods (e.g. logging in as "new") will create a new user account with the values you have configured in SCFG->System->New User Values. Check those values.

Both of these accounts were created by telneting in. I used the makeguest.js to create the guest account since I was logged out the first time before the "make guest" question was asked.

Okay. I don't think there's an issue with your Guest account.

    Hello Digital,

Both of these accounts were created by telneting in.

Did you check your "New User Values" in SCFG?

Yes, they are untouched from the defaults and are what I would expect them to be.

    I used the makeguest.js
to create the guest account since I was logged out the first time
before the "make guest" question was asked.

Yes, the guest account is OK.

This is not an upgrade from 3.19. I just grabbed the source with git so it is purely 3.20. Would that make a difference?

The security level for the sysop and regular user shows as 0 in uedit and the password field is blank. If I set the security level and password in uedit I can briefly login but soon after I get logged off be cause "times up". After that looking in uedit again the security level shows 0 and the passord field is blank again.

The time per day is set to default, 240 minites if I remember right.

The security levels drop to 0 and the password field blanks after attempting to login for some reason I don't know.
